![]() To be clear, Call of the Sea is not a horror game. Lovecraft fans and are inspired by his work. You might be asking yourself, “an otherworldly adventure game – what do they really mean by that?” Well, not only do we absolutely love adventure games, but we all also have a secret passion for the supernatural and the occult. We hope to create a game for everyone out there that carries a nostalgic torch for the genre and for new players that have yet to discover the joy of adventure games with puzzle solving. You might say that Call of the Sea is our love letter to the genre and a way of deepening our own experience and adding new dimensions to it. Games like Firewatch, Subnautica, Red Matter, Myst, Soma, and Obduction were definitely sources of inspiration for us. So why are we creating a puzzle-based first-person adventure game? Well, we on the dev team grew up with both adventure and puzzle games and we love them to pieces. We are striving for a calmer, deeper and more intelligent love story between Norah and her husband, a relationship that we feel is too rarely portrayed in games. That is what we wanted for our main character Norah, because we want you as a player to care for her and share her emotions. We adored her acting in Firewatch, especially her ability to create a strong presence with only her voice, conveying emotions to make the character feel so alive and close. It is a story-driven game that lets you take on the role of Norah, a woman who has crossed an ocean in a desperate search of her husband, who has gone missing on an expedition.Īnd, amazingly enough, we have the luck of having actress Cissy Jones as the voice of Norah. Furthermore, never anchor your ship on top of the purple funnel as this will cause the Mermaid that you need to retrieve your stored loot to appear very far away.Call of the Sea is our first game together, and it is an otherworldly adventure that takes place in the 1930s. It’s a good idea to have your ship positioned so that you can use a harpoon to quickly grapple the loot onboard. This loot will float for longer than usual, so you don’t have to worry about it sinking again. The mermaid will swim away, and all your stored loot will suddenly float to the surface, ready for you to load it onto your ship. Go up to it and follow the button prompt to collect your treasure. Once you’re back on deck, you’ll be able to spot a mermaid floating in the middle of the purple funnel on the water’s surface. If you’ve filled up a statue, you should then use it to return to your ship, exactly like a regular mermaid. All six shrines are quite unique, so you’ll have to look for a particular entrance for each one. Once you’re at the sea floor your chosen shrine, you’ll need to look for a way in.
